The brief was to create an open plan kitchen, living and dining area with a sense of spaciousness. This was achieved by creating a one and a half storey height extension whose high level roof lights and clerestory windows flood the space with daylight.

This project entailed complete renovation and extensive replanning of the existing detached house, including the incorporation of a two storey side extension, a part one storey/part two storey rear extension, conversion of an attached brick built garage to a self contained granny annexe and (via construction of a new roof) the creation of a habitable loft space incorporating media room and office.

Description
The floor area of the original property has been almost tripled in size, comprising (unusually) a 5 metre deep front extension, which was permitted by the Planning Authority because of the unusal nature of the corner plot. The house accommodates a large open plan kitchen/family space and a through lounge/dining area which is partially top-lit.
